Gretsch Satin Flame |
|
Satin flame finishes came about in the 60s and have been with us on-and-off for many years. We saw everything from solid colors such as red, blue, white, yellow, olive all the way to crazy combinations such as peacock, moonglow, 3D and so many others. (And, we're talking about the real finishes, not a digital image made into a wrap, which we're seeing more of these days, and it is NOT the same at all).
The process and machinery needed to create these finishes is, for the most part, gone. And, the process is so complex that the cost to produce these has become prohibitive. So, we won't be seeing these finishes in the forseeable future.
With that in mind, I have contacted Gretsch and have made arrangements to purchase all of the remaining satin flame for kits that will be exclusive to our Maxwell drum shop.
The available colors are: Yellow (often referred to as "gold satin flame"), Black, and Peacock.
There will be enough finish available to create only 7-8 kits in each of these three finishes.
To start things off we have three sets coming within the next 6-8 weeks. All three will be 8x12, 14x14, 14x20, 5.5x14 USA Custom and we will have one set in each color; Yellow, Black, and Peacock.
When they arrive, we'll get these photographed so you can use those images as a reference to place special orders. We'll be able to order these in USA Custom and Broadkaster, and perhaps even Brooklyn (stay tuned on that).
Of course, you can order one now if you like! Keep in mind that I once these are gone, there won't be any more.
