Q&A for Leedy USA Custom Shop

Since announcing the creation of the Leedy USA Custom Shop we have had many inquiries covering several different topics. This Q&A section will provide you with our current thinking on a variety of topics. We'll update you as we progress, and we'll have announcements of key products and other information through new issues of Leedy Drum Topics in that section of our website.

Q: What snare drum models will be offerred initially:

A: We'll start with the Leedy Broadway, which will utilize sixteen Leedy beavertail lugs; Leedy Broadway Extension strainer and butt plate; Leedy double flanged chrome plated brass rims; Leedy USA badge; and solid shells by Craviotto. We will also offer a model with die cast rims. "Vintage" style bearing edges will be available as well as traditional edges. Sizes will be 5.5x14 and 6.5x14. More to come on unique build specifications, finishes, wood choices, etc. as we move forward.

Also, we will introduce the Leedy Broadway Elite, which will utilize eight Leedy "x" box lugs; Leedy Broadway Extension strainer and butt plate; Leedy double flanged chrome plated brass rims; Leedy USA badge; and solid shells by Craviotto. We will also offer a model with die cast rims. "Vintage" style bearing edges will be available as well as traditional edges. Sizes will be 5.5x14 and 6.5x14. More to come on unique build specifications, finishes, wood choices, etc. as we move forward.

Q: Will there be Leedy USA Custom Shop drum sets:

A: Definitely. We will be building drum sets utilizing the Leedy beavertail lugs. As of this writing we are assessing our options as to shell configurations etc, and will have more information in the near future. Initially, we will start with custom shop snare drums and will then roll out drum sets as a second phase. Stay tuned for more details.

Q: Will there be Leedy USA Custom Shop snare drums with ply shells?

A: Yes. However, at this time we are assessing our options as to the shell configuration and will have more details in the near future.

Q: Can I place an order for a Leedy USA Custom Shop snare drum now? If so, how do I go about it?

A: We're not yet ready to take formal orders since we want to get our prototype drums built first. However, Steve very much wants to personally assist you in the process of designing your Leedy USA Custom Shop snare drum, so feel free to call Steve on his cell phone at 630-865-6849. He can give you full details as to the type of wood that is available; various optional pearl wrap finish choices; custom inlays that are available on wood finish drums; etc.

We'll be posting more information about questions we receive shortly. Stay tuned, and in the meantime don't hesitate to call Steve at 630-865-6849 or email him at drummermax@aol.com
