1. 2024 Chicago Drum Show

Don't miss this year's Chicago Drum Show. May 18-19, but before that, we're having an open house at my Glendale Heights shop from 6-9 pm on Friday 5/17. We will have light food and refreshments and will debut the new Craviotto Museum, housed in our new 1000sf space dedicated to Johnny and his craft.

CRAVIOTTO MUSEUM

The Museum features over 50 snares and 15 sets, as well as examples of Johnny's early work in the 80s-90s, and information about the solid shell drum building process.

The sets include such rarities as:

- Drum set #1 13/16/22/5.5

- Drum set #2, made specifically for Steve, 12/14/18/5.5

- Set #1000, which is 13/16/18/22/6.5 and the only set made from solid Timeless Timber Birch, and many more.

The snare drums include Steve's full collection of the rarest Craviotto snares, including Timeless Timber as well as Craviotto/AK drums and more.

ITEMS FOR SALE

Below is just a small list of item that we will have for sale, but note that most of these will NOT be at the booth at the show. Stop in and see them on 5/17. You can also view them at the shop throughout the show as well, by appointment.

- SOLD 5/13. 20s era Ludwig Black Beauty, standard, gold plated.

- SOLD 5/13. 20s era Ludwig Black beauty standard.

- Papa Jo Jones 4x14 Ludwig 20s Black Beauty. Formerly owned by Wm F. Ludwig Sr, who gave it to Gene Krupa, who then gave it to Sid Catlett, who then gave it to Papa Jo. Papa Jo then gave it to Billy Cobham. I acquired the drum from the person who got it after Billy. I placed it in a private collection many years ago and we are now proud to offer it again.

- Trio of Gretsch RB era snares, 4x14, 5.5x14, 6.5x14 in red sparkle, blue sparkle and gold sparkle;

- Insanely rare Ludwig citrus mod Rock Duo 12/13/16/20/20 and incredible rare matching 5x14 Jazz Fest snare;

- One of the rarest of all Gretsch snares - 50s era 4x14 Max Roach model, Cadillac nitron green, gold hardware. One of only a few known examples.

- Gorgeous museum grade Ludwig/WFL WMP 13/16/22/5x14

- Gretsch copper mist 12/14/20 used by Larry Bunker with Zoot Sims

- Gretsch natural maple 12/14/20 with 5x14 COB Ludwig Supra, plus all cymbals and drum bags, owned by Larry Bunker and used with Bill Evans (hour long concert video as well).

- Lang/Gladstone 6x14 in silver sparkle "top hat & cane" wrap. Made by Arnie Lang for his own collection.

MAXWELL MUSEUM

Of course, we have many items in our museum that are not for sale, but come see them. Items belonging to Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Louie Bellson, Art Blakey, Harold Jones, Peter Erskine, as well as some of the rarest and pristine examples of vintage drums. These include:

- Finest and only known complete Gretsch Cameo Coral drum set (which was the inspiration for our new Cameo Coral exclusive Grertsch finish)

- Superb pre-serial WMP Ludwig Downbeat kit 12/14/20/4x14

- Ludwig silver sparkle pre-serial number 13/16/22 with matching Super Classic, Jazz Fest, canister throne, and also 5x14 COB Supra.

- One owner Rogers 12/13/16/14x20/14x22 silver sparkle with matching 5x14 Powertone and 5x14 matching wood Dyna.
